Every part of the item upload process on Ghostnote is an opportunity to tell a story, and feature descriptions are no different. Where an Origin Story gives an item history and context, its feature pin descriptions bring notice to the real, physical characteristics of the object.
Features have two main functions:
- Personalization. Features highlight the unique physical characteristics of your item. These features are what define your item, making it different than something a fan could buy at any old merch table.
- Authentication. Our software uses these features to confirm to buyers that the item is indeed the same item which was listed.
Additionally, features are another opportunity for you to get creative. Let's consider a possible scenario: a synthesizer with a missing filter knob. You could conceivably describe a feature thus:
- Feature # 1 - Missing filter knob
While this may be an accurate description of a noteworthy feature of the synth, it is not good enough for an item on Ghostnote. To explain what we mean, please consider the following description:
- Feature #1 - Our 2017 tour included a gig at the infamous First Avenue. In his excitement, our guitarist, Pete, accidentally knocked my Minibrute off its stand, mid-set. The filter knob popped off, and we never did find it in the chaos of the night. Fortunately the filter still works just fine! This synth can really take a beating.
These two bullets are describing the same physical feature, but one of them does far more to create a lasting impact on the viewer. And, sure, we made the scenario up, but the point still stands: thoughtful features help to make your item feel special and unique. Your listings deserve good feature descriptions!
